Student Organizations

Mission

The Arkansas Baptist College (ABC) Office of Student Activities plays an essential role in building the overall foundation of the college experience. The goal of Student Activities is to compliment academic programs; striving diligently to ensure that education does not stop at the classroom doors. To this end, we work closely with faculty and staff across the campus to link curricular and extracurricular activities seamlessly. We are committed to building a community of leaders for tomorrow. Getting involved in student activities, organizations, clubs and committees, is an excellent way to develop leadership potential and enhance the college experience.

The student’s first priority at Arkansas Baptist College is academic achievement. Student activities, organizations, special events and athletic events are extracurricular activities that assist student development. Student organizations allow interaction with other campus leaders, administrators, staff and faculty, thus increasing awareness of available campus resources while enhancing development while at college. All student organizations are required to complete three campus projects. All Greek-letter sororities and fraternities are required to maintain established national regulations. For more information on becoming a recognized student organization, obtain the Emerging Club Packet from the Dean of Student Affairs’ Office.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the representative voice for Arkansas Baptist College’s students. SGA formulates policies and works closely with administration on issues that directly affect students. Elections for various offices are held during the spring semester. Students are encouraged to get involved in leadership positions and sponsored activities. SGA officers include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Chaplain, Senior Class President, Junior Class Representative, Sophomore Class Representative, and Freshman Class Representative. A student must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.50 to run for office and once elected must maintain a 2.50 (GPA).

Greek Life

Recognizing that membership in a fraternity or sorority can be a positive and educational experience, ABC supports the notion that membership offers an alternative lifestyle for today’s student. There are two national sororities and one national fraternity with chapters on the Arkansas Baptist College campus. These organizations are nationally affiliated and report on campus to the Dean of Student Affairs or his/her designee.

ABC currently has the following active fraternities and sororities on campus:

  • Tau Pi Chapter – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. ΔΣΘ
  • Pi Lambda Chapter – Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. ΚΑΨ
  • Alpha Delta Pi Chapter – Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. ΩΨΦ
  • Rho Phi Chapter – Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. ΦΒΣ
