What is the Arkansas Baptist College Student Life Like?

As an incoming college freshman, you likely have a thousand questions racing through your mind: “What is college really like?”, “What student organizations should I get involved in?”, “What if I do not fit in?” That is perfectly natural.

College is a new, exciting experience, and it is normal to have doubts and questions about what being a student is really like. Admittedly, it will be a little different than high school, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

At Arkansas Baptist College, we know that these doubts and questions can make college life seem intimidating. That is why we do our best to provide you with all the information and answers you need. If you find yourself curious about what student life is really like, are unsure of how you will fit in, or simply want a better idea of what you can expect, we have got you covered.

Education Actually Does Come First

Student organizations and extracurriculars are important, but it is important to remember to make coursework your number one priority. Your education experience might be structured differently than in high school, and that may take some getting used to, but that is okay. ABC provides several on-campus study groups, administrative help, and open-door policies to ensure that you get the help you need to make the most of your freshman year.

Faith Matters to Us (and To Our Students)

At Arkansas Baptist College, we believe student life would not be complete without a firm focus on faith. We provide our students with every opportunity to strengthen their beliefs and grow in their religious studies. Every week, we offer a chapel service, called Empowerment Hour. We also have several bible and faith-based groups that meet weekly, and plenty of religious courses available to our students. For us, faith should be a huge part of your student experience.

We Have Greek Life Covered, Too

Student organizations are highly important to us, and make up a significant portion of our student body. We have something for everybody, whether it is an academic organization, an athletic association, or Greek life. If you are looking to get involved in the Greek Life program, know that our Greek life is a little different than the stereotypically wild Greek associations portrayed in movies. At Arkansas Baptist College, our Greek life is built around values and benefits like built-in study groups, academic reward for excellence in-class, leadership opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and more! We have 9 divine Greek organizations to choose from at Arkansas Baptist College, all of which place faith, growth, and friendship above all else.

You Get To Figure Out Who You Are (And What’s Important To You)

We mentioned before that studying should be your number one priority in college. However, we also believe that our students should take time during their college careers to figure out who they are and what is important to them. ABC is all about finding your faith, growing into who you are meant to be, and creating the life you want. That is why our everyday student life also includes faith building groups, open door policies, and plenty of advisor meetings.

We Believe in Growing Your Personal Strengths

Student life also entails learning how to grow your personal strengths. At ABC, want to ensure you have the resources you need to develop who you are, and what you want to do, whether that means finding classes that best match your interests, exploring groups that can help you thrive in your faith, or finalizing the major that makes the most sense for you. If you do not know your personal strengths yet, that is okay, too—we have resources for that. Check out programs like The Career Key, and Good&Co, to take simple tests that can reveal valuable insights about who you are, your values, and what career paths might work best for you.

You Can Make Time For Outdoor Exploration

Whether you are here over the summer and not taking classes, or simply want a relaxing break from your studies, taking time to explore and adventure outdoors can be an enriching part of your student experience. Luckily, we have plenty of beautiful places to check out in our area . You can stroll through our famed downtown flea market, hike into Pinnacle Mountain State Park, go on a guided fishing trip, or even take a zip-line tour of the Ozarks.

Being adventurous, doing things you enjoy, and exploring new places with friends should be a huge part of your college experience, so take advantage of these opportunities whenever you can.

  1. Hey, Great post buddy. Completely enjoyed reading it. Thank you. I wrote this article on my website

  2. Former Student from 11-12

Let’s be honest, this is the worst school you could possibly go to. I was there from 2011-12. The school is in the middle of the hood, you can only imagine the type bs as students we had to deal with on a daily basis. The teachers were underpaid and under educated. They couldn’t even speak proper English. One teacher was just passing students regardless if they came to class or not. As a student who never misses class that pissed me off.

Probably one of the dirty schools I’ve ever been to. My room looked like a jail cell. No type of security at the school. Fights happened daily, drugs being brought in from off campus and I even had one of my teammates murdered down on campus by neighborhood thug. And to make it all worse the dean was stealing money. What type of HBCU lures in poor black students and them robs them?

All in all if you care about your future, and want to become something. Do not, I repeat do not enroll and this school. In Jesus name, amen
