Systemic racism and bigotry are deeply rooted and on full display in the United States and our nation. The recent tragic murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, and countless others are reminders that America still permeates a society in the form of police brutality, mass incarceration, and inequitable public education. Certainly, this moment requires more from the church, college, community and the nation. Institutions of the world are subsets of the broader communities they serve. One of the best ways to make an impact is to expand the perspectives. The Race in the Rock Discussions were facilitated by Dr. Preston Clegg, Second Baptist Church to provide an opportunity to listen to different perspectives to help us pause to reflect on our own views to become advocates for change.
