TheI-20 form (Certificate of Eligibility) will not be issued until the applicant has been accepted by the Office of Enrollment Management and has submitted a financial statement indicating how fees will be paid while attending Arkansas Baptist College.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Immigration and Naturalization Service rules governing nonimmigrant “F-1” foreign students require all persons in this category to pursue a full course of study. This means that undergraduates must register for a minimum of 12 credit hours. Any modification of this requirement that results in a course load of less than the minimum must be authorized by the Primary or Designated School Officer (P/DSO) and the Chief Academic Officer. Failure to satisfy these requirements will cause students to be ineligible to receive the I-20 form to support their nonimmigrant status
All applicants must submit application and all supporting documents for admission as requested. Please visit www.arkansasbaptist.edu to complete the online application.
In addition, all applicants to Arkansas Baptist College must complete the Affidavit of Support, which can be found attached to this document. Submit the Affidavit along with the application to Arkansas Baptist College. The Affidavit of Support enables ABC to generate an I-20 form, which the US government requires in order to grant you an F-1 student visa.
The SEVIS I-90 fee activates your I-20 in the SEVIS database. It must be paid prior to your visa interview. You will need to print your receipt and take it with you to the US Embassy/Consulate.
Continuing students who are transferring in from another US institution, as well as dependents applying for an F-2 visa, do not usually need to pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.
You will need your SEVIS ID number from your I-20 form in order to complete the SEVIS Form I-901. You can find this number above the bar code on the top right-hand side of your I-20.
It may take a few weeks or more to get an appointment at your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate so make an appointment as soon as you have completed Steps 1 & 2. You should wait and make your travel arrangements after you have obtained your visa.
PLEASE NOTE: Canadian Citizens do not need visas to study in the U.S. You do need to obtain an I-20 (or DS-2019) Certificate of Eligibility from the university that you plan to attend. At the time you receive the I-20 (or DS-2019) you will be registered with SEVIS, the student tracking system. You will be assigned a SEVIS number, and be required to pay a registration fee (see below).
When you cross the border to study you will need to provide the Officer at the port of entry:
F-1, M-1 and J-1 visa applicants with I-20 (or DS-2019) forms issued on or after September 1, 2004 are required to pay a SEVIS fee before applying for the visa. This is a one-time fee charged to F-1, M-1 and J-1 visa applicants to cover the cost of administering the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
For foreign citizens applying to become F or M students or J exchange visitors pay the following SEVIS I-901 fee amounts: I-901 F-1/M-1 visa applicants (full payment) – $200
