About ABC - The Division of Student Affairs

"WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY"

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Division of Student Affairs at Arkansas Baptist College is to create a campus culture that reflects and advances the tradition of moral and Christian education. We seek to create, for and with our students, an intentional family base community that will set the highest standards of academic, social, moral, and spiritual excellence through the fundamental ideals of Baptist education.

Values Statement

The Division of Student Affairs at Arkansas Baptist College we will accomplish our mission by adhering to a service-centered set of CORE VALUES which include the following principles:

  • Providing a welcoming and inclusive collegial atmosphere.
  • Connecting students to college resources and faculty/staff and student body.
  • Acquainting students with institutional expectations and values.
  • Promoting learning and discovery both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Fostering pride in the Buffalo community.

The Division of Student Affairs consists of the following program:

Judicial Affairs

The Arkansas Baptist College Judicial System is designed to promote order and discipline essential to the educational process of its students. This system is applicable to all students enrolled in the college who violate the code of conduct on and off-campus when the violation is committed by a student that reflects upon the name of the college and its programs. Students will be held accountable and subject to punishment for violations committed off-campus during college sanctioned and/or sponsored activities. It is incumbent upon all students to comply with the code of conduct, respect the rights of others and honor college policies and procedure.

Greek Life

Recognizing that membership in a fraternity or sorority can be a positive and educational experience, ABC supports the notion that membership offers an alternative lifestyle for today's student. There are two national sororities and one national fraternity with chapters on the Arkansas Baptist College campus. These organizations are nationally affiliated and report on campus to the Dean of Scholars College/Student Affairs or his/her designee.

Intramurals

The Arkansas Baptist College Intramural Sports Program is designed to offer students, faculty, staff, and alumni a broad range of activities in which they can participate. ABC Intramural Sports Program promotes physical fitness, competition, social interaction, and student involvement. ABC Intramural Sports offer everything from team sports to dual and individual activities. Each sporting event offers both a competitive and recreational league that participants can sign up for based on their level of skill.

Student Organizations

The student's first priority at Arkansas Baptist College is to study so that he/she may succeed academically. Student organizations, special events, and athletic events are co-curricular activities that assist students in developing leadership and communication skills; allow interaction with other leaders, administrators, and faculty; increase their awareness of available and campus resources; and enhance development while at college. All student organizations are required to complete three campus projects, and all social Greek-letter sororities and fraternities are required to maintain the same regulations as national sororities and fraternities. For more information on becoming a recognized student organization, obtain the emerging club packet from the Scholars College/Student Affairs office.

Dining Services

Eating is an important part of living and learning at Arkansas Baptist College. Our team of professionals is dedicated to providing the college with excellent dining options and services. We are continually seeking input and recommendations from the student body. One opportunity for you to participate is attending the Food Service Committee Meetings.

Housing & Residential Life

Arkansas Baptist College's Housing and Residential staff welcomes you to your home away from home! Time spent outside class can be as meaningful as the time spent studying and in class. Residential Life Coordinators work with students to make time spent at Arkansas Baptist College socially and academically worthwhile. Leadership positions are available to provide career and personal development. The areas of development will assist in time management, communication, and decision-making. Students will plan and implement events and programs that will affect residential hall living as well as community living. Residential Life is filled with opportunities. Take a risk-get involved in residential life.

Disability Services

Disability Support Services is located in the Scholars College/Student Affairs office (Admissions and Enrollment Building). Disability Support Services was established to coordinate efforts with regard to this population and to provide proper compliance with local, state and federal laws. This office will work cooperatively with State Rehabilitation Services to ensure that the needs of students identified as having a disability are fulfilled to the best of the institution's ability.
