Prospective Students - Admission

Admission to Arkansas Baptist College

Arkansas Baptist College has an "open" admission policy. Whose mission set forth by its ancestors to reach out to individuals of all nationalities by instituting and creating an environment specially designated for the low-income, single parent, and academically-challenged that are in pursuit of a college degree for all who so desire and are willing to preserver toward.

Freshmen

Students may be admitted to Arkansas Baptist College in one of four ways: as a freshman, transfer student, special student or as an early admission student. Students must submit a formal application for admission and other academic credentials.

Students interested in attending Arkansas Baptist College are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Formal application
  2. High school transcript or
  3. GED
  4. ACT test scores
  5. Immunization Records

Admission to Arkansas Baptist College requires 21 high school units, including the following:

  • 4 Units English
    2 Units Oral Communication
    3 Units Science
    3 Units Math
    3 Units Social Studies
    1 Unit World History
    2 Units Civic or American Government
    2 Units Social Studies
    2 Units Physical Education
    2 Units Health & Safety
    2 Units Foreign language
    4 Units Electives

A grade point average of "C' and composite ACT score of 16 are the general requirements for all students. Student graduating from an Arkansas High School without an overall grade point average of "C" and a composite ACT test score of a at least a 16 may be granted conditional admission, with the understanding that the student must maintain an average of "C" or better in order to continue studies at Arkansas Baptist College.

All incoming freshmen students with less than a "C" average will be assigned to the New Scholars College for developmental studies.

Early Admission

High school seniors who are contemplating on attending Arkansas Baptist College should apply for Early Admission. A student admitted under the non-binding process allows students the opportunity to learn of their admission decision early.

Submit your application for admission and all supporting documents by December 1st. We'll notify you of the admission decision by December 31st. You're free to apply to other colleges and universities and do not have to commit to Arkansas Baptist College until May 1st.

Transfer Students

Admission is granted to students who are opting to transfer from another institution to Arkansas Baptist College. Transfer students must meet the college admission requirements:

  1. Submit an official transcript of all work completed (including high school)
  2. A GPA average of 2.0 (4.0 grading system) on all college work attempted, and
  3. Be in good standing at the last institution attended.

Students who are not eligible for re-admission to the previously attended institution will not be considered for admission to Arkansas Baptist College until they have been out of college for a minimum of one (1) year. Transfer students with less than a 2.00 GPA may be considered for conditional admission. Conditionally admitted transfer students are eligible to enroll in a maximum of nine (9) hours.

Transfer of Credit

  1. General transfer credit is awarded for courses in which a grade of C or better has been earned.
  2. A maximum of 65 hours from an accredited community or university
  3. Transfer credits are included in the earned credits and are listed on the students' transcript.
  4. For the purpose of ranking students for graduation and honors, the college computes all transfers credits (passed or failed)

Classification Test

Arkansas Baptist College mandates that all freshmen and transfer students take the ASSET Placement Test prior to enrollment and have results on file in the office of the Registrar and New Scholars College. The test is administered at the beginning of fall, spring, summer terms, and at other times when scheduled with the counseling and New Scholars College. Acceptable scores from nationally recognized test may be submitted in lieu of the Asset.
